Sterling Silver Crosses, Cheap CZ Silver CrossesIn the 21st Century, no one should think that people wearing sterling silver crosses can only be found in or around Christian institutions. Today, it is possible to find someone wearing such a cross in a mosque or synagogue. Today, a large number of American communities have some sort of interfaith organization. When the members of that organization meet in a mosque, a synagogue or other non-Christian house of worship, then one or more of the organization members, members attending that meeting, might well be wearing some type of cross. For centuries, Christians have found that by wearing sterling silver crosses, they can seek solace in remembrance of Christian teachings. In most cases, each of those sterling silver crosses had a small metal loop at the top of the cross. The owner of the cross could thread a chain through that loop. The Church never issued an edict concerning the style of the cross that could be worn by missionaries, clergy and church leaders. Some Christians have chosen to wear .Florentine crosses. Others have decided to wear a Celtic cross. A majority of Christians have elected to wear one of the standard-shaped crosses. In regard to the decorative elements on the sterling silver crosses, Christians who share a common faith do not always share the same artistic preferences. Some Christians decorate their crosses with precious and semi-precious stones. Other Christians look to engraving, in order to enhance the beauty of any religious pendant, including cross-shaped pendants. Heavy metal crosses on long chains are generally worn by adults. Still, not all of the sterling silver crosses are large and heavy. Some of the smaller crosses can be worn on a children’s bracelet, or a children’s necklace. Among those smaller crosses, there is one special four-way medal that deserves mention in this short article. That medal bears four separate religious symbols. The top section of this special cross carries a picture or engraving of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Some Christians find that by viewing that Sacred Heart they can obtain comfort from memories of Jesus’ unending love. According to Christian teachings, the love represented by that Sacred Heart extends to every living person. On the arm of the cross to the right of the Sacred Heart is a St. Christopher symbol. For centuries traveling Christians have looked to Saint Christopher has a guide and support. Trusting in Saint Christopher, many Christian missionaries have carried their message to all four corners of the world. The bottom section of that four way medal carries the symbol that is also found on the “Miraculous” medal, the medal of Mary. Christians who pray to the Virgin Mary believe that those who wear the “Miraculous” medal will receive blessings from the sacred virgin. The final section of the four way medal bears a symbol of Saint Joseph. Saint Joseph is seen as being the patron saint of workers and families. It seems right to put that symbol on a medallion that is meant to be worn by children. Traditionally, the four way medal has been given to children following their receipt of a sacrament. A child might get such a medal following his or her first time at the Communion “table.” Sometimes, infants receive a four way medal after they have been baptized. |
